There are a few weddings that hold a special place in my heart and this is one of them. Lisa and Chris have magnetic personalities and are just a joy to be around. It doesn’t take long to understand why they are so perfect for each other. Disclaimer*  I’ve known Chris since high school and he’s been like a big brother to me ever since. As a friend and photographer when he asked me to capture his wedding I initially had some reservations. Those reservations came as a friend and less as a photographer. I started to question my own abilities and forgot about the years of experience I have as a photographer and the countless weddings I have done. Thankfully I got over those initial doubts.

On the big day we started our wedding prep at the beautiful Avenue of the Arts Hotel. Chris gave his groomsmen some pretty amazing bobblehead dolls that he had modeled after each person (most unique groomsmen gift ever). Then they got down to real business and by that I mean playing Mario Tennis Aces along with a few drinks.

Moving onto the bride, Thuy Linh was just finishing her touch ups on Lisa. The girls then had some fun and drinks afterwards following Lisa putting on her amazing dress. Lisa’s mom then had a very beautiful moment with her while she helped her daughter with the finish touch. Just like that, we’re off to bridal party photos!

Noguchi Garden was literally down the street. It’s a beautiful modern area to take photographs at and fits perfectly with their style. We did a quick first look and then we had some fun there with the bridal party capturing both formal and fun photos. Lastly, before wrapping I did a quick mini-couples session with just Lisa and Chris. If you’re in the Costa Mesa area and are looking for places to shoot your bridal party I would recommend Noguchi Gardens although you do have to get permission there first.

The ceremony and reception took place at the 1912 Venue. It’s a beautiful modern space that worked perfectly for a wedding of their size and style. Julie from Juvee Floral did a beautiful job setting up the arrangements for the ceremony and reception. Last but definitely not least, Sierra Baxter did a spectacular job coordinating the ceremony and reception (shout out to Sierra!) After the ceremony, it was time for the main couples session around downtown Santa Ana. This is the part where I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves.
